This course presents the concepts of pathogenicity and virulence as they relate to disease causing bacteria, mycobacteria, fungi, protozoans, and viruses. Mechanisms of pathogenicity, host interactions, epidemiology and diagnosis will be emphasized. General concepts of microbial physiology, taxonomy, genetics, host immune response, and antimicrobial therapy are also presented.
