This course reviews human physiology and the physiological effects of toxic agents. It includes an overview of the principles of toxicology; biological processes such as toxicant absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion; the use of toxicity tests and other data to characterize a chemical's toxic effects and the problem of estimating risk. Basic principles of epidemiology are also reviewed.
