Survey of French Literature II

This course provides an overview of French Enlightenment, 19th-century, and 20th century literature and culture, and acquaints students with major literary, intellectual and historical trends through the study of representative works from each period. Special emphasis is placed on close reading of texts in order to train students to read critically and to familiarize them with major authors, genres and their interpretation.
