Science of documenting and understanding spatial patterns of biological diversity. This course will introduce student to concepts used in understanding historical, ecological, and geological processes that contribute to past and present biological distributions including the historical development of biogeographic concepts, plate tectonics, evolution, phytogeography, the fossil record, niche theory, and patterns of disjunction.
