Modern German History

This course considers the important historical and moral questions posed by modern German history. Since the late 1800s, Germans have experienced two democracies, two dictatorships, the rise and fall of an empire, and two world wars. We will ask how Germans understood and adapted to rapid political, social, and cultural changes during this period.
