American Folk Music: Its History and

The two mainstreams of American folk music, the Anglo-American and the Afro- American, are examined from a scholarly point of view. Reference is made to the great collections and field recordings. Student performance of examples from the established literature of vocal and instrumental folk music is encouraged.
