Ambulance Operator

This course prepares participants for a vital role on an emergency medical services (EMS) team as an ambulance operator. Through online instruction and hands-on training, participants learn Basic Life Support (BLS), scene and patient assessment, airway management, trauma response, and the safe handling of hazardous materials, along with special patient populations and incident command systems. Behind-the-wheel training builds skills in emergency vehicle operation, navigating traffic, maneuvering in tight spaces, and keeping patients safe in transit. No prior experience is required, and participants who finish are ready to serve their communities. Participants who successfully complete the theory and hands on lab for this course earn an ACCS credential. Academic Pathways: This non-credit workforce training course may also help participants earn college credit through Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) or articulation opportunities toward select certificate or degree programs at participating Alabama community colleges. Credit awards are granted solely at the discretion of the receiving institution in accordance with its academic policies.
