The Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Surgical Technology prepares individuals to work, under the supervision of surgeons and surgical nurses, to prepare and maintain the sterile field perioperatively. Students learn aseptic technique, instrumentation, use and sterilization of instruments, ethical and legal issues, various specialties of surgery, surgical patient care, perioperative pharmacology, basic anesthesia knowledge, and professionalism in the workplace.
