Intro to Welding
Wallace State Community College
This hands-on welding course introduces students to common welding processes used in industrial and manufacturing settings. Fall semester focuses on Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), commonly known as Stick Welding, while spring semester focuses on Gas Metal Arc Welding (MIG) and Flux-Cored Arc Welding. Participants learn shop safety, equipment setup, electrode and shielding-gas selection, welding positions, bead placement, joint preparation, weld inspection, and basic troubleshooting.
