Sociology of Community

This course will examine the broad concept of community as it is reflective of both democracy and citizenship; fundamentals of American life. The various ways of defining community according to culture, geography, technology, imagination, and in a global context will be explored. These diverse examples will inform us on how communities are held together and what breaks them apart.
